EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wilberforce University celebrated Founders Day to mark over 170 years of Black education and heritage. Students, alumni & upperclassmen highlighted the legacy and shared traditions by mentoring new students on campus. WHIO
- ➤ Following bomb threats that led to school closures Monday (Feb. 9), attendance remained lower yet improved each day since Tuesday. The district will perform daily safety sweeps of its 17 buildings to maintain student security. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ A new coffee shop at Springfield High School gives students with disabilities a chance to build work skills by serving school staff in person and by app. Transition Coordinator Kelli Lievherr said the program, called The Cat Cafe, lets students gain real-life job experience inside a safe school environment. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Wabuck Development Company has proposed a 60-unit senior living project on Springfield’s southwest side — 54 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom units planned under the Engaged Neighborhood Plan. The company will submit its application Feb. 26; if LIHTC funding is approved, construction will begin fall 2027 and finish in two years. Springfield News-Sun
