- ➤ State troopers are investigating a crash on State Route 235—U.S. Route 40 in Bethel Township where a 68-year-old motorcyclist on a 2006 Harley Davidson was struck by a 2018 Acura TLX that failed to yield, and he later died at Miami Valley Hospital. WDTN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Springfield celebrates St. Patrick’s Day all weekend with Irish-themed events at local venues—featuring Celtic music, live performances, and special Irish food and drink. Events start Friday at Mother Stewart’s Brewing Company and continue through Monday at O’Conners Irish Pub, with some attractions charging admission. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ Wittenberg University has been placed in financial distress by the Higher Learning Commission after U.S. Department of Education data raised doubts about its ability to keep running— the designation will remain until an advisory visit is complete by September to review its financial plans. - ➤ Fulton Elementary School earned the Momentum Award from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce after a 7.5% improvement in performance—an increase that raised its rating from 3 to 4 stars during new state tests. - ➤ Miami Valley residents should prepare for two rounds of strong storms this weekend. The first storm, expected early Saturday morning, will likely weaken while the second round between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. may bring damaging winds, hail and an isolated tornado threat — with some areas possibly receiving up to two inches of rain that could cause flooding.
