  • Last Thursday, construction contractors at the L-H Battery plant (40 minutes south of Springfield) received a medical evaluation and work was suspended in a section of the facility as a precaution, a spokeswoman said.  Springfield News-Sun

  • A cybersecurity nonprofit study of 25,000 people found 44% were victims of cybercrime in 2025 & experts warn that a passive online safety approach leaves personal data vulnerable. Local institutions like Kettering Health have been targeted, prompting calls for using two-factor authentication.  WHIO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State College, spoke at the Professional Women of Clark County luncheon urging local leaders to see criticism as a tool for growth. She said mistakes help build strength and announced she will retire in June 2026 (after 33 years) of service to education.  Clark State College
  • Northwestern Local school board hired Ryan Rismiller as its new superintendent. He will start on Aug. 1 — coming from his role as principal at London High School as current superintendent Jeff Patrick retires on July 31.  Springfield News-Sun

  • Representatives for Springfield's Haitian community returned from Washington after urging the Supreme Court to review Temporary Protection Status affecting local residents. Oral arguments will begin soon and a decision is expected in May or June — community leaders say the ruling is critical as uncertainty lingers.  WHIO
