- ➤ Springfield officials announced that a new McDonald’s location will start construction soon. The work is expected to take three months (project to begin shortly) with the restaurant planned to open by summer. WHIO
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Patrick Sheehan, president of Sheehan Brothers Vending, has created a memorial fund at the Springfield Foundation to honor his late wife, Jessica Ross Sheehan. The fund will offer future scholarships for Ohio University students + provide educational and grief support for the community. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Teacher Leah Terrell of Lagonda Elementary, in her 14th year of teaching, received the Excellence in Teaching Award on March 23 and said she loves seeing students have light bulb moments — clear signs of progress in class. Springfield News-Sun
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Premier Health emergency department in Jamestown closed temporarily on Friday for decontamination after treating LG/Honda battery plant workers who reported skin irritations and minor symptoms. The facility reopened early Friday and the battery company has suspended construction in part of its plant as a precaution. Springfield News-Sun
