COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Last month a firefighter from Station One used his falconer training to rescue an injured red-tailed hawk that a vehicle hit on Ohio 4—he removed the bird safely from a Ford truck. The hawk is now at the Glen Helen Raptor Center and will have a long recovery as it molts and regains flight ability.  WYSO

  • A car overturned on the 400 block of Wyoming Street around 3:30 p.m. on March 25th—closing part of the road.  WHIO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Egg prices soared and a local business changed its decades-old Easter tradition to manage rising costs—The decision came after a sharp increase in prices challenged the business’s usual seasonal practice.  WHIO
  • Dewey’s Pizza brought back its Ballpark pizza with a baseball-inspired flavor using horseradish-mustard, mozzarella, Cleveland Kitchen Sauerkraut, caramelized red onions + spicy smoked sausage. It started on Tuesday, March 25 and will run for one week at all 27 locations while an Instagram giveaway with Cleveland Kitchen begins on Thursday, March 27.  WDTN

CRIME NEWS

  • The estate of Lo-Letha Hall, a 61-year-old Uber driver fatally shot in Clark County on March 25th, 2024, filed a wrongful death lawsuit seeking over $25,000 and a jury trial against 82-year-old William Brock and five unnamed defendants accused of a scam call that led to her fatal encounter, and Brock faces charges of murder, felonious assault, and kidnapping with his trial set for April.  WHIO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wittenberg University said its Presidential Search Committee has narrowed candidates for airport interviews to choose a new president as current President Mike Frandsen will leave at the end of his term on June 30. The committee (led by Doug Kentfield and John M. Shumate) gathered community input through listening sessions and a survey and will shortlist candidates for in-person interviews in the spring.  Springfield News-Sun
