ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Second Harvest Food Bank in Springfield and Foodbank Inc. in Dayton lost $349,000 of food from cancelled federal shipments—items like eggs, cheese, and meat meant for 60 partner agencies serving families in Clark, Champaign and Logan counties. The cancelled orders cut meals for many and add to a $2.5 million food funding reduction, prompting food banks to ask lawmakers for more help. WYSO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Clark County Job and Family Services (JFS) was recognized by county commissioners during Child Abuse Prevention Month for helping over 300,000 children and many families. The agency answered 3,353 calls, conducted 874 investigations, and provided support such as food stamps for nearly 10,000 children and Medicaid for over 20,000. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ After a storm left thousands without power in the Miami Valley on Thursday, officials advise generator users to read operator manuals and check carbon monoxide detectors to stay safe. The CDC and the Portable Generator Manufacturers’ Association stress that generators must run outside and far from buildings to avoid CO poisoning — symptoms include dizziness, fatigue and headaches. - ➤ The Miami Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will host two social programs for people with early-stage dementia and their care partners this April. One event is in Englewood on April 17 from noon to 1 p.m. at Marion’s Piazza—while the Springfield event is on April 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at COhatch. WDTN
