CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A family in Butler Township is seeking charges against driver Gregory Horn Jr.—who fled from police after a theft complaint and was suspected of being under the influence—after their 17-year-old son Ryan Shepherd was seriously injured in a head-on crash on Feb. 24. WHIO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Springfield will present its updated zoning code (the first in 24 years) later this month to add affordable housing rules and better business parking solutions. The code is expected to be voted on in May (after a first reading) and will include new training for city staff. Springfield News-Sun
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mercy Health held a town hall today at Springfield Regional Medical Center—discussing how it kept obstetrics services despite a $6 million loss in 2024, rising provider shortages, and changes to Medicaid, Medicare, and drug pricing that other hospitals have not overcome. The hospital also outlined plans to lower emergency room costs by partnering with insurers and exploring new technology like artificial intelligence to improve patient care. Springfield News-Sun
