CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Springfield man was sentenced to 21 years in prison for a September shooting on the south side where a victim suffered gunshot wounds to his leg, hip and back—police later identified him from surveillance video after he fled a nearby home where they found his clothing and matching ammunition. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, a middle school teacher reintroduced cursive writing as a classroom assignment and reported mixed feedback, with many students complaining about the workload while some enjoyed the challenge. The assignment is mandatory for middle schoolers, and high school students may choose to complete an extra packet (designed to spark interest in calligraphy). Springfield News-Sun
