CULTURE NEWS

  • Springfield Symphony Orchestra will perform Mozart’s Requiem at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Clark State Performing Arts Center, 300 S. Fountain Ave. The concert features Robert Levin’s completion and the Springfield Symphony Chorale with four soloists including local bass baritone Seamus Dunphy.  Springfield News-Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clark State President Jo Alice Blondin was named Mildred Bulpitt Woman of the Year by the American Association for Women in Community Colleges on Sunday, April 12. She will retire in June after 13 years as president, with Evon Walters set to succeed her on July 1.  Springfield News-Sun

  • Internal emails from a USCIS worker reveal that a supervisor forced unverified, TPS-related claims linking Haitian TPS to migration, raising doubts about ending the program; thousands of Haitian TPS holders in Springfield face legal uncertainty as the case proceeds in court.  Springfield News-Sun
