- ➤ Springfield’s Mershon’s World of Cars in downtown was sold to new owner—Jeffrey Warrington—after founder Dan Mershon retired, ending over 40 years in business. The dealership will host a Springfield Cars & Coffee event on May 3 from 9 a.m. to noon to celebrate the change. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ By Golly’s Bar and Grill is opening its first local location at 1720 N Bechtle Ave in Springfield after Roosters closed in July; it will hold a grand opening on April 23 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. — a ribbon cutting is scheduled for 3 p.m. with live music, face painting and giveaways offered throughout the day. - ➤ Linda Orwick, a Springfield City Schools kindergarten teacher, is one of four educators to be honored with the 2025 Excellence in Teaching Award on April 21—she has taught kindergarten for over 40 years and values building strong, lasting bonds with her students.
