COMMUNITY NEWS

  • PickleRage will take over the shuttered Big Lots store in Washington Township to create a new pickleball center featuring nine indoor courts and two outdoor courts—this center is expected to open mid-to-late 2025.  WHIO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Clark County Commissioners approved a rezoning on Dayton-Springfield Road near Enon that lets an indoor self-storage facility join an existing restaurant while adding a laundromat and coffee shop. The vote passed 3-0 last week as the owners work to lower rents and improve commercial space—bringing a new option to the local market.  Springfield News-Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • Singer-songwriter Gina Chavez, noted for her 2020 Latin Grammy nomination, will perform Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Clark State Performing Arts Center as part of the Club Kuss series to close out the season. The concert will offer intimate seating and complimentary desserts (tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for students) as she reconnects live with her audience.  Springfield News-Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Robyn Wheeler, an intervention specialist with Springfield City Schools, was one of four teachers to win the Excellence in Teaching Award today and received a $1,250 check, a plaque, and an engraved paperweight along with state proclamations—honoring her dedication to helping students succeed.  Springfield News-Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Springfield City Commission meetings are lively and well attended, with the next one tonight at 7 p.m. where residents voice concerns about Haitian immigration and safety as new rules now protect personal information. Clark County Commission meetings on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. remain calm and sparse+ county officials are exploring changes such as evening sessions and video recording to help more people join in.  Springfield News-Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • Premier Health is running a mobile mammogram unit—using the same radiologists and tools as a hospital—that helps people get breast cancer checks in Riverside. The small unit has a check-in area and a private exam room.  WHIO
