The American Power Boat Association has officially moved its headquarters from Detroit to the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield today—ending 70 years of operations in Detroit.

The group signed a 19-year lease and will hold events like the U.S. Title Series Spring Shootout on May 10-11—boosting local motorsports.

Four Clark County teachers, Nicole Adams, Annette Lloyd, Linda Orwick and Robyn Wheeler, were honored with 2025 Excellence in Teaching awards + they received a $1,250 check, a plaque, an engraved paperweight and proclamations from the Ohio House and Senate after sharing what teaching means to them in Springfield schools.

Environmental advocates oppose a nearly 45% cut to H2Ohio — a program that funds clean water projects like replacing old pipes and preventing farm runoff — after the Ohio House approved a $120 million reduction from the governor’s proposal.

Local groups warn the cuts will hurt water quality and say the state Senate must restore full funding before Governor DeWine signs the budget by June 30.

Springfield city leaders expanded their vacant property policy to cover commercial and industrial sites to help prevent dead zones in business districts, as owners must register online within two months of a property being empty for 30 days and pay a $600 fee + a $100 fine if they do not comply. The update also raises the annual fee for residential property registrations to $125.
