Shawnee senior A.J. Mathews and his family opened Mathews Family Farm Market at 2604 Springfield-Xenia Road, moving from a small seasonal stand to a permanent storefront to grow his agribusiness dreams.
The market will sell local produce, eggs, baked goods, seasonal items, and handmade products — its grand opening includes food trucks, live music, giveaways, and a petting zoo with hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
On Wednesday, Springfield police responded to a shots-fired call on the east side, finding numerous shell casings in a driveway+ stray bullets lodged in two nearby homes+ bystanders reported seeing two vehicles flee as SWAT collected evidence and the investigation remains ongoing.
Clark State College was awarded a $180,871 grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education to buy new manufacturing equipment and expand its training in robotics, engineering, and industrial technology.
The college will use the new tools and smart classrooms—developed with local industry input—to offer more hands-on lessons and better prepare students for future careers.
