ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Perry Township — he was taken to Miami Valley Hospital. WHIO
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost recognized nine Springfield middle-school students for their essays on violence during a ceremony on April 29 at John Legend Theater — teachers, parents, and community members attended. One student, Jasyla Lambey, will travel to Washington, D.C. in July to represent her district at the national Do the Write Thing initiative. WDTN
- ➤ Global Impact STEM Academy will open its new school building on Clark State College’s campus this fall to serve more students with smaller classes and modern labs and classrooms. District operations will move into the facility on June 1 — with a senior capstone expo on May 8 and a ribbon cutting on May 23 to mark the new start. Springfield News-Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Springfield will have road closures on May 2 at 10:30 a.m. for a Public Safety Services Day ceremony in front of the Public Safety Memorial—closures on E. Columbia Street and N. Limestone Street will last about an hour while key buildings remain open. WDTN
- ➤ The Ohio Department of Transportation announced road work in Clark and Champaign counties will close lanes and ramps on Interstate 70 and U.S. 40 from May 5 to May 19 for resurfacing and improvements. Additional work on U.S. 40, U.S. 68, and State Route 4 will force detours — drivers are advised to follow local alternate routes — and plan for delays. Springfield News-Sun
