COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Springfield Foundation hosted its first Beyond Barriers Interactive Awareness Event to help residents learn about disabilities - interactive stations and a panel discussion showcased real challenges and local accessibility services. EDUCATION NEWS

  • After voters rejected the school levy for a third time, Clark-Shawnee Local Schools will launch a reduction plan when the 2026-27 school year starts. The plan (cutting 1.5 teaching and 1.5 support staff positions) aims to address a funding shortfall caused by flat state support and property tax changes.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Graham Local Schools named Steven E. Dickerson as the new superintendent after Chad Lensman (joining Fairborn City Schools as curriculum director) departs at the end of July; Dickerson will begin visiting the district before his official start on Aug. 1.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Clark County commissioners honored Clark State President Jo Alice Blondin on May 6 for her 33-year career as she nears retirement — the college celebrated her service with a proclamation. Evon Walters will take over as president on July 1.  Springfield News-Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Old Stage Road bridge in Spring Valley Township reopened today after being closed since 2015. Located between Mt. Holly Road + Sears Road, the bridge had its superstructure replaced by Eagle Bridge Company using funds from the County Engineer Bridge Formula Program.  WHIO
