  • Pongo is a handsome 2—3-year-old American Bulldog mix weighing 56 lbs who arrived as a stray in early April at the Clark County Dog Shelter—located at 5201 Urbana Road in Springfield—and now waits for someone to give him love. CRIME NEWS

  • Lamont A. Brown Jr.—a 17-year-old from Springfield—was indicted on murder charges in Clark County adult court for the fatal shooting of his mother, Tiffany Higgins, on St. Patrick's Day 2024 after a relative found her shot multiple times in her home on South Center Street.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Two deadly shootings occurred in Springfield on Wednesday—one near Elder Street just after 3 a.m. and another after a car crashed into a home on South Limestone Street at about 2:25 p.m.—with police confirming one death in each incident.  WHIO
  • Yesterday, a car crashed into a house near South Limestone Street and East Euclid Avenue at 2:30 p.m. in Springfield—gunshots were heard and police reported one death and one injury as multiple agencies investigated the incident.  WDTN
  • A shooting just after 3 a.m. on Buckeye Street near Elder Street and Selma Road in southeast Springfield left one person dead—police are investigating the incident.  Springfield News-Sun
  • The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help to locate 15-year-old Brianna Dupree from Bath Township — she was last seen wearing a black jacket and sweatpants on May 13 at 10:36 p.m. and is described as 5’7 and 125 pounds with brown hair and eyes.  WDTN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clark State College received a $180,871 RAPIDS grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education to upgrade its engineering and advanced manufacturing programs by buying new equipment—such as Fanuc Certification mobile carts and a Titan 25T CNC Press Brake—and build collaborative classrooms for real-world training. The grant will help prepare students for local industry needs with summer classes starting May 27 and fall courses beginning Aug. 18.  Springfield News-Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clark County Combined Health District & NHTSA are urging drivers to buckle up during the national Click It or Ticket campaign as data shows that 5% of drivers, who account for nearly half of Clark County's fatal crashes since 2020, are unbelted. A safety kickoff event will be held on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at 529 E. Home Road and law enforcement will enforce seat belt laws, especially at night.  Springfield News-Sun
