- ➤ Project Woman appointed Andy Rigsbee as interim executive director after Laura Baxter left in March, and the nonprofit will hire a permanent leader from four candidates before the end of summer. Rigsbee, who served 26 years as a firefighter and paramedic, is also running for a seat on Springfield’s city commission in November — the board praised his strong skills in emergency response and community advocacy. - ➤ Miami Township police are searching for a missing 17-year-old teen last seen at his home on May 3 who is described as 5′9 and 135 pounds with dark hair and brown eyes — anyone with information should call police at 937-433-2826. WHIO
- ➤ Springfield police identified two people killed in separate shootings on Wednesday, with Randy Graham Jr., a man in his 30s shot after a party on the 900 block of Elder Street just after 3 a.m. (and Da’Meko Taborn, a juvenile fatally injured when a car crashed into a home at the corner of South Limestone and East Euclid around 2:30 p.m.), while medics transported another person to hospital. - ➤ Nine Springfield elementary schools held their first Battle of the Bots competition this past winter—students built and steered robots in a VEX IQ challenge scoring points by moving blocks, which highlighted potential careers in engineering and programming. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center will soon start building a new facility 29,000 square feet larger than its current campus after voters approved a bond issue in November, aiming to reduce a waitlist of 185 students.
