- ➤ Buck Creek State Park is welcoming visitors this season with major upgrades including a new nature center & a revitalized marina shop, updated campground facilities, and improved trails. - ➤ Animal welfare groups rescued 1,500 beagles from a breeding facility in Wisconsin amid mistreatment concerns; local foster Brandye Bear is caring for three beagles pending quarantine and vet clearance. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Six Springfield High School students earned their Ohio Seal of Biliteracy (three received the honor in multiple languages), district officials said. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Officials at the Clark-Shawnee Local School board met Monday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Administrative Office (3680 Selma Road) to discuss placing an operating levy on the November ballot for school funding. - ➤ More than 100 humanities leaders in Ohio, including Clark County and Dayton officials, sent a letter to Senator Husted asking him to quickly release NEH funds after cancellations by the Department of Governmental Efficiency.
