- ➤ Owner Steve Elliott of Poppy’s Diner said on social media that the restaurant might close soon and sales doubled two days later. The diner opened in March at the former Mundy’s Diner spot at 920 Selma Road (which has ample parking and a safe neighborhood) and local support now keeps it going. Springfield News-Sun

CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Springfield homeowner was frightened when unknown persons threw rocks through her windows and fled in a van—she is disabled on a fixed income and now faces $600 repair estimates for each of her four windows as police search for leads. WHIO
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Clark State College has partnered with the Rosie Project to offer free IT certifications to military spouses through courses in network administration, cloud computing, and cyber security—participants will earn three industry-recognized certifications over a six-month program with career support from both partners. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials and ODOT are planning road repairs on Ohio 41 near Ferncliff Cemetery where a wrought iron fence has been hit 65 times since 2018 — the project will include repairs, a shave and pave, high friction surface treatment and moving the fence back 7 to 12 feet. ODOT will cover up to $200,000 of the $530,382 estimated cost while the city seeks additional funds. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Ohio law now requires hospitals to show clear dollar-and-cent prices for all services so patients can compare costs; local facilities Kettering Health, Premier Health and Mercy Health report compliance — the Ohio Department of Health will monitor adherence and issue fines for non-compliance. - ➤ Governor and city officials met on May 19 to discuss workforce concerns in Springfield — they are planning changes to improve job opportunities and prepare for future community needs. The officials said they are focused on developing new strategies as the community moves forward. WHIO
