- ➤ The Southeastern High School softball team beat Bradford 7-5 on Thursday night at Houston High School in a Division VII district final—winning their first district championship since 2014. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Ty English has been named the new boys basketball coach at Shawnee High School after serving five seasons as an assistant at Carroll. He replaces Chris McGuire—who stepped down last month to focus on family—and will use his experience from coaching football and AAU teams to lead the Braves program. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Kenton Ridge Cougars won the district final with an 11-0 score at Valley View High School on Friday night + they improved their record to 28-0. They will face Cleves Taylor at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mason High School in the D-IV regional semifinal game. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Local high school baseball ended its season with dramatic finishes as teams like Springfield Shawnee upset Bethel 4-1 and Edgewood and Anna won with walk-offs while weather delayed some tournament games. Softball teams secured district championships and will start regionals Tuesday—with additional games set for Thursday and Friday—as coaches mark career milestones with retirements and win records.
