  • Second Harvest Food Bank will host a drive-thru food distribution on June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Springfield High School parking lot to help families manage rising grocery costs; guests must bring valid ID and avoid lining up before 9 a.m.  WHIO

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After heavy rain caused widespread flooding on South Charleston Pike, Bob Pennywitt rescued his daughter and helped her and her grandsons leave their submerged home (borrowing waterproof overalls from a neighbor) before waiting for the water to recede.  WHIO

CULTURE NEWS

  • Miami University's Culture Crops exhibit—which features photography and interviews capturing Ohio's diverse farming communities—will close on June 13 at the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum and will reopen at Northern Kentucky University in October.  WYSO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tecumseh High School senior Colton Bower will graduate this month and enlist as a combat medic, shipping out in August for basic training at Fort Leonard Wood + training at Fort Sam Houston. He said his dad’s service inspired him to join and be part of something bigger.  Springfield News-Sun

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Springfield firefighter Bruce Kelley Jr. is planning a new subdivision on 4 acres at the former Elmwood Elementary site on the east side to honor his daughter Camella, who died in 2019. The nine homes will sell for around $250,000-$300,000 and target first-time buyers.  Springfield News-Sun
