- ➤ Developers have applied for permits to begin construction in the first week of August on a 105-room Home2 Suites by Hilton extended-stay hotel at 2302 St. Paris Connector near the busy Bechtle Avenue business district. - ➤ A Dayton woman, Aryah Mobley, was indicted on murder and aggravated burglary charges after police said her break-in at a Springfield home led the homeowner to fire a shot that killed her accomplice—18-year-old Brian Hinshaw—on May 20 at a home on South Lowry Avenue. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ At Tuesday’s commission meeting, Springfield community members and city leaders discussed recent gun violence that has claimed seven lives in 2025, compared to 11 deaths in 2023 and six in 2024, with one father recalling that his son was killed and officials linking the violence to poverty—Springfield Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. - ➤ A man reportedly ran from a deputy and fell over 40 feet from a cliff at Mad River Gorge on Sunday morning—he suffered severe injuries including a compound fracture and refused help, while firefighters and law enforcement responded to a burning boat nearby and investigators have not confirmed if he is linked to a vehicle seen fleeing earlier.
