- ➤ Springfield Farmers Market reopens today at 117 S. Fountain Ave.—it runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through September and offers themed days, live music, family events, and food assistance programs. Springfield News-Sun
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Springfield city leaders and residents are facing rising gun violence as seven homicides have been recorded this year—including fatal shootings on May 14 and May 20—which have stirred anger over gun laws and community safety while the city lost $1.2M in federal violence prevention funding. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State leaders have given $400K in state funding to the local police to reduce violent crime—money that will help add new prevention steps—and the department said the funds will boost safety measures in Springfield. WHIO
- ➤ Clark County approved resolutions to send federal grant applications for Bethel Township road and drainage improvements and home repair help on Cooper and Edgewick Streets. Bethel Township must match 10% of the funding and if the state awards the grant, work will run from January 2026 to December 2027. Springfield News-Sun
