- ➤ Poppy's Diner closed its doors yesterday—June 23—to move back to a food truck model in Springfield, aiming to serve its loyal customers in a new way. WHIO
- ➤ Firehouse Subs is running its 'Name of the Day' promotion where customers with selected names can get any sub for 50 percent off—names like Ashley, Elizabeth, James, Jason and Jose were chosen on June 23. - ➤ This week, Springfield hosts the 59th Summer Arts Festival with a new Celebrate Springfield! event that will showcase local artists, vendors, and nonprofit groups along with bluegrass, tribute and family-friendly acts — events will run from Wednesday through Sunday. Springfield News-Sun
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Clark County Public Library is launching a pilot bike-share program at its main branch at 201 S. Fountain Ave where adults with library cards and IDs can check out seven-speed bikes along with helmets. The program, set to begin near the end of October, will encourage active living and collect user surveys—a joint effort with the health department using a grant from the Ohio Department of Health. - ➤ The Clark County Land Bank will build four new affordable houses in Springfield on the south side as part of a $2 million project to offer safe housing to families at or below 300 percent of the Federal Poverty Guideline. The 1,300 square foot homes will have three bedrooms and two bathrooms and are constructed by Clayton Homes — applications are now open and additional houses are planned nearby — to revitalize a long-neglected area.
