ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A firework reportedly exploded on a person’s face at the local fairgrounds yesterday — a medical helicopter was dispatched to help the injured.  WHIO
  • A wrong-way crash on I-70 Westbound in Clark County caused minor injuries on July 6th — officials have not confirmed the total number injured.  WHIO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Braxton Miller, a former Ohio State and NFL player, has teamed with his former teacher and current principal Amy Fugate to help students at Springfield Sports Academy. The tuition-free charter school has 100 students and will grow to 500 while boosting academics, mental wellness and sports—guiding students with support and real community values.  Springfield News-Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Springfield shared its draft five-year federal spending plan that may lose about $11 million in HUD funds if a new federal bill becomes law—changes that affect affordable housing and homelessness programs. The city will review the plan on July 15 to meet the August 16 submission deadline and invites local feedback.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Some Miami Valley projects in Clark and Montgomery counties will receive over $18 million in state funding to improve wastewater and drinking water systems. Springfield will get almost $8.9 million for a new pretreatment facility at the Erie Express pump station while Montgomery County will receive over $10 million to build new sewer lines and a metering station along Mud Run.  WHIO
