EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Clark State College is recruiting for the One Million Degrees program designed for new or recent high school graduates from Clark, Logan and Champaign counties, with fall classes starting August 18 and a full package of academic, financial and personal support offered. Only 60 students will be accepted into this nationally recognized program+ interested applicants should contact the admissions department promptly. Clark State College
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nonprofit McKinley Hall lost nearly $70,000 in federal and state funds—$59,980 from federal sources and $10,000 from state support—forcing cuts to its substance use programs and affecting 40 staff positions. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Ohio lawmakers introduced House Bill 372—known as the Larry Henderson Act—on June 23 to require the death penalty or life without parole for adults who kill police, first responders, prosecutors or military members. The bill is named after Hamilton County Deputy Larry Henderson, who died on May 2 while working a security detail at the University of Cincinnati’s commencement. WHIO
