- ➤ The Clark County Fair now uses metal detectors at the Reiter Dairy Welcome Center—deputies greet all guests as they leave metal items in their cars to speed up the process. The fair runs July 18 to July 25 and will finish its final day early, with ticket sales stopping at 6:01 p.m. to prevent safety issues. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ A family in Springfield is seeking justice after their father of 7, who played drums for several local churches, was killed in a shooting. WHIO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Ohio House will hold a special session on July 21 to vote on overriding three of Gov. DeWine’s vetoes that removed key property tax reforms from the $60 billion budget—these measures include limits on school district carryover and adjustments to county levies. The Senate plans to follow, and lawmakers will debate changes that could affect taxpayer savings and school funding. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ Sheehan Brothers Vending recalled individually wrapped food items sold from July 2-8 from vending machines across Ohio, northern Kentucky and eastern Indiana after an ODA inspection found the items did not list sesame as an allergen+customers with sesame allergies should dispose of the products and contact the company for a replacement pack. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Yellow Springs native Amy Wamsley became only the second Ohio woman to complete a solo swim across the English Channel on her 50th birthday, finishing the 20.5-mile swim in 16 hours and 56 minutes despite cold water, jellyfish, and gas fumes—she was welcomed home with a police escort and celebration as she earned a medal.
