- ➤ Buck Creek State Park in Springfield will get new upgrades as crews work on a marina and nature center—officials set a ribbon-cutting for September and will begin concessions next spring. Campground renovations will also start this fall as officials enhance the park for visitors. WDTN
- ➤ The Children's Memorial in Springfield, which honors about 30 children who died from violence or accidents, is at risk of closing because there are not enough volunteers to maintain the site + vandalism has damaged features like the wall of names, pond, and statues. - ➤ The Springfield Police Division will host its annual National Night Out on Aug. 5 at Veterans Park — residents will meet local first responders as the event offers free food, games, prizes, a bicycle raffle, an inflatable park, safety vehicle tours and a visit from the 7-Eleven Slurpee Truck. The event is organized in collaboration with Springfield Fire and Rescue, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ Springfield will launch an on-demand transit system called Field Trips on July 15, replacing the fixed-route system with 16 mini vans that riders can book by app, online or by phone—city officials said the system will cost about $2.5 million a year and match riders traveling in the same direction to reduce wait times.
