  • Champion City Games and Hobby expanded—now using two Springfield locations at 1051 and 1055 N. Bechtle Ave to serve a growing need for video games and card events. Owner Kenneth Seelig III said the move provides over 5,500 square feet for tournaments and he hopes to connect the spaces soon—helping customers enjoy a better shopping experience.  Springfield News-Sun

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities arrested a man who fled from deputies during a Sunday morning search in Clark County when a car stolen from Springfield drove erratically near N Bechtle Avenue and Eagle City Road—officers from Clark County, the State Highway Patrol and Springfield police worked together while a second suspect remains at large.  WHIO

CULTURE NEWS

  • Over the weekend, Springfield’s Barnstorming Carnival showcased vintage biplanes and free rides for families and aviation fans at the local airport. Organizer Dewey Davenport said the 11th annual event grew from his early passion for flight—uniting locals with a taste of aviation history—while also drawing visitors from out of state.  Springfield News-Sun

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A study for a new Amtrak rail route connecting major cities including Springfield proposes three daily round trips that may begin by 2035—this plan aims to improve travel options and boost local business. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The 178th Wing began a military training exercise using blanks and pyrotechnics at Springfield-Beckley Air National Guard Base and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base — residents nearby should expect loud noises and more aircraft traffic. The exercise started Sunday, July 13 and will run until Thursday, July 17.  WDTN

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new study from Boston Personal Injury Lawyers showed that Ohio ranked ninth with 5,144 drug overdose deaths in 2022, tolling 45.6 deaths per 100,000 people—nearby states reported even higher rates.  WHIO
  • Hartford Bakery Inc. has recalled six lots of Lewis Bake Shop Artisan Style bread that may contain undeclared hazelnuts, affecting 883 12‑ounce loaves sold in 12 states at retailers such as Kroger and Walmart with an expiration date of July 13th. Consumers with nut allergies should return any affected bread for a refund, as one customer reported digestive discomfort—there is a risk of serious allergic reactions.  WDTN
