CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Springfield police arrested Terri Neal on July 6 after she intentionally struck a Dollar General employee with her grey minivan at 9:30 p.m. on July 5 at Yellow Springs Street—causing a serious leg injury, significant damage to the storefront, and leading to charges of Felonious Assault, Aggravated Trespass, Vandalism, Endangering Children, and Obstructing Official Business while a child in her vehicle was later dropped off safely. - ➤ Springfield police are investigating a reported shooting in the 800 block of E John Street around 10:07 p.m. on July 14—officials are still gathering key details. WHIO
- ➤ A police chase ended in a crash on the 500 block of Salem Avenue around 9:10 p.m.—one person is in custody. WHIO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today the city begins switching from fixed-route buses to an on-demand van system called Field Trips, offering free rides during a two-week trial while buses still run. The full change will occur on July 29—riders will then pay $2 for typical trips and $4 for paratransit rides. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Springfield debuted its new digital platform called Cityworks on Monday, July 14 to help residents, business owners and developers track building permits, zoning applications and code compliance cases—paper applications will still be accepted for 60 days. WDTN
