- ➤ Sweet Manufacturing, now a division of Behlen Manufacturing, donated a 16 foot diameter gazebo called BinVista to the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield ahead of the Clark County Fair to honor founder W. Dean Sweet. The new structure will host events—weddings and community gatherings—and a dedication ceremony is planned later this month. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ A woman died after being shot on E Cecil Street in Springfield at 6:51 p.m. EDT on July 23—police are investigating the incident. WHIO
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Preliminary survey data show that the Dayton metro added 600 jobs last month + Springfield saw the largest statewide decline with a 1.4% drop. The state added only 1,800 jobs since April + local employers remain cautious amid growing economic uncertainty. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Ohio’s sales tax holiday will run from midnight Aug. 1 to 11:59 p.m. Aug. 14 and lets buyers pay no state sales tax on items like clothing, electronics and books if they meet price rules. Shoppers can also buy online if orders are placed on time (sellers’ time zones determine qualification) but some items, such as motor vehicles and tobacco, are not included. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ Northeastern Local Schools announced a new special education leadership team to support students and families.
