ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two juveniles were hurt after an SUV hit an electric scooter around 7:12 p.m. at the intersection of Kinnane Avenue and Clifton Avenue in Springfield Township when the scooter failed to yield at a stop sign — both the injured youths and the 68-year-old driver were taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and the crash remains under investigation.  WHIO

CRIME NEWS

  • Springfield domestic violence advocate Jimmy Steward, 61, was charged with assault after a protest over his wife Beth Donahue’s self-published book turned violent outside their apartment building — a video shows him striking protester Tyla Mays, who said her chin was swollen — and he pleaded not guilty at Clark County Municipal Court.  Springfield News-Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clark County tax issues have been filed to appear on the November ballot pending board certification. The measures include levies to fund parks & recreation, jail construction, school improvements, and police and fire services, with cost estimates provided by the Auditor.  Springfield News-Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • A dozen mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Greene County — samples were taken from Bellbrook, Beavercreek, and Fairborn. Public Health will spray the affected areas on Aug. 11 from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. to help protect residents from further exposure.  WHIO
