CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police are investigating an alleged attempted abduction at the 400 block of Rosewood Avenue in Springfield — several officers are on scene as the investigation continues. WHIO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Members of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus will hold a town hall on the State of Black Ohio at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at Clark State Community College Hollenbeck-Bayley Conference Center in downtown Springfield with free admission and doors opening at 5 p.m.—the event is sponsored by the Springfield Section of the National Council of Negro Women and is the first in a planned statewide series to engage locals on state property tax funding issues. - ➤ Clark County Commission presented three proclamations today — one for Child Support Awareness Month, one for National Emergency Management Awareness Month, and one honoring an international 40 under 40 award to Clements-Pitstick. County officials said the actions support efforts to help families with child support issues and improve readiness for emergencies. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Longfellow died Sunday from pancreatic cancer—his family and community are mourning his loss. His children will share memories of him tonight on News Center 7 at 11:00—offering a heartfelt tribute to his life and service. WHIO
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Life Untethered installed a severe weather alert system today at Good Shepherd Village in Springfield to help residents get fast warnings during storms. The project installed 26 Midland Weather Radios—20 with flashing lights and bed shakers—to reach those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ Rose Commons, a new affordable apartment building in Springfield, is almost finished as workers complete interior work and landscaping within the next week — eight units are already occupied and two to three more have moved in — and full leasing is expected by early fall, with the project set to remain affordable for at least 30 years.
