- ➤ Life Untethered, a local nonprofit led by Ryan and Britley Ray, is expanding its Gifts and Presence campaign to bring an over-the-top Christmas to more than 500 nursing home residents in Springfield by serving six local homes and inviting the community to adopt residents or donate cash—this effort aims to give seniors gifts, treats, music, and visits from Santa so they feel loved. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Registered cardiac sonographers Emma Beedy and Alyssa Souders will launch Ultrascreen — a mobile cardiac screening service — in September to offer on-site echocardiograms, EKGs, and vital sign checks at schools, churches and community centers for children aged 12 to 18 while board certified cardiologist Dr. Faiq Akhter reviews the results to catch hidden heart issues early. The service will cost $95 and aims to provide a simple way for parents to check their children's heart health. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ McKinley Hall completed a $2.8M renovation of its addiction recovery center that now offers a withdrawal management unit, mental health clinic and recovery housing funded by state grants and opioid settlement money—recovery housing opens August 18 and full services are expected by mid-September.
