Drivers have hit the Ferncliff Cemetery gate over 70 times in eight years—causing more than $100,000 in damage.
Shelley Baker, the cemetery’s executive director, is working with the city engineer to find a lasting fix.
County officials have approved buying four parcels near I-70 in south Springfield for a new jail and public safety building.
They will complete studies and tests over the next 365 days—if voters approve a 0.5% sales tax increase on the November ballot, the funds will help pay for the estimated $100 million project.
