- ➤ Kathryn Mobley (an award-winning journalist) has worked at WYSO since 2022 covering local government and education, and she shared details about her loyal dog Odie during a recent interview. She has worked in TV, radio, and public relations and once broke her ring finger during a summer walk (she is now on the road to recovery). WYSO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Clark County commissioners voted 2-1 on a two-year ban on large wind and solar projects in 10 unincorporated townships including Springfield township. The decision gives local officials time to review energy plans for future projects and may be reversed by incoming commissioners. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Chief Master Sgt. Charles Hansel will assume leadership at Springfield’s 178th from Chief Master Sgt. Jacquita Melton in an upcoming change-of-authority ceremony—Melton will retire immediately after the event. Hansel, formerly the command chief for the 178th Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Group, will serve as a senior adviser to the base commander. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ The city of Springfield is launching Springfield 2051—a 15-month planning process to create a future roadmap ahead of its 250th birthday—to gather local ideas through two community sessions on Friday, September 19 and Friday, September 26 at Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center. Local leaders and residents will discuss trends and explore various scenarios for the city's growth over the next 25 years. WYSO
