Over 100 people joined a two-mile peace walk Saturday, Sept.
5, in Springfield to honor Pierre Damas Bel, a 20-year-old Haitian student who died earlier that week. The walk, organized by Indivisible Springfield, followed a set route starting at The State Theater parking lot — to promote local unity.
🎓 Education
Clark State College welcomed Evon Walters (sixth president) on July 1; he promises to build community ties and launch a strategic plan to boost student pathways and meet local workforce needs.
He brings 25 years of leadership experience and plans to work with local education partners to expand opportunities.
🏛️ Government
Jefferson Township welcomed new fire captain Carter Shumann on Friday.
Officials said his experience plus leadership marks a new chapter of service for local residents.
Ohio residents with Android devices can now add their driver’s license or state ID to Google Wallet, the Ohio BMV announced.
The digital ID meets security standards and verifies age and identity at select locations — users should still carry their physical ID.
