EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Five OSU med students in their second year now mentor high schoolers at SHS via a program hosted at the school’s health center — they developed a set of lessons on college applications, financial aid, and lifesaving health skills. The program, planned since June, aims to guide students toward diverse health care career paths — offering fresh opportunities in a community that needs more providers. Springfield News-Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Rep. Tom Young has proposed a bill at the statehouse that would require all elected officials to report any suspected child abuse or neglect from personal or work-related encounters—introducing stricter accountability measures. The bill is in its early stages and will be assigned to a committee for review. WHIO
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Kettering Health announced that Greene Memorial Hospital will remain open and will receive more than $10 million for renovations to modernize services in Greene County. The health network will also build a new outpatient center on Progress Drive in Xenia— a move to address local care shortages. WYSO
