- ➤ Ohio Hope Builders, a local nonprofit that has helped with disaster relief after tornadoes in Kentucky and Hurricane Helene in North Carolina, will celebrate one year of service. The group will host a fundraiser and donation drive tomorrow at the VFW on Main St.—the event includes food, rides, and a raffle for a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 to raise funds for a new headquarters. - ➤ Attorney Randall Comer explained marijuana's impact on workplace policies at the Springfield Safety Council meeting, saying that even with the legalization of medical and recreational marijuana, employers may enforce drug-free rules and discipline employees for violations. He added that positive tests do not always show impairment — safety professionals and HR managers should rely on clear written policies and drug-awareness training to keep workplaces safe. - ➤ GE Aerospace announced that it will invest $300M in Beta Technologies to develop a new hybrid electric turbogenerator for vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The companies said the deal is subject to regulatory approval and that GE’s teams in Evendale and at Dayton’s EPISCenter will help with the design—laying the groundwork for future air mobility. - ➤ Culture Café at 1010 N. Murray St. will open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.—its celebration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony with African coffee and teas paired with fresh breads and sweets. - ➤ Clark State student Caitlyn Leonard earned a $1,000 Chime Workforce Scholarship from the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation for her strong academic record and work in career and technical education—she will graduate this year and study new media while serving as a career awareness leader at the Career Technology Center. - ➤ A Dayton Daily News investigation shows that private school leaders from Wittenberg to Miami Valley School got higher pay even as their schools saw income fall. Wittenberg’s salary rose 5% to $383,495, Wilberforce reported a 23% revenue drop, and the Hobart Institute saw its top pay jump nearly 78%—all amid ongoing financial challenges. Springfield News-Sun
