CULTURE NEWS

  • This weekend, Springfield will host MustardFEST — a food festival celebrating local heritage with a wiener dog pageant starting Friday at 6 p.m. and special events Saturday including Joey Chestnut’s keg tapping, eating contest, and hot dog race with prizes.  Springfield News-Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clark State College recognized 491 students who earned a spot on the Dean's List this summer (each reached a 3.5 GPA while taking six or more credits).  Clark State College
  • Springfield high school students participated in a summer internship program that placed eleven students in paid local positions such as Springfield City School District and Gentle Dental — the program, which accepted 67 students from 11 schools, offered training in skills like time management and resume building to prepare them for future careers.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Yesterday, the Ohio Department of Education released school report cards for Miami Valley schools for the 2024-2025 school year—ranking them by performance. The data offers a clear view of each school's standing before the new academic year begins.  WHIO
  • The state released report cards that list five rated components—along with report-only data—to help school districts see their performance. Officials said the details will guide upcoming improvements.  WHIO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Clark County Common Pleas Courthouse will reopen after renovations as offices move back from the temporary space to the historic 1924 building. The courthouse will be closed on September 19, 22, and 23 to secure records, with public services resuming on September 24 at 8 a.m.  WHIO
