EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Springfield City Schools improved to a 2.5 star overall rating on the 2024-2025 state report card but remained the lowest-performing traditional district in Clark County — early literacy scores show progress. Clark-Shawnee Local Schools earned the highest county rating at 4.5 stars and increased their indicators, highlighting strong performance in education. Springfield News-Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Clark County courthouse is moving its offices and courtrooms back to the renovated historic building on Sept. 24 at 8 a.m.—the Clerk’s Office will close at 2 p.m. on Friday and the Common Pleas Court will be closed to the public on Sept. 22 and Sept. 23. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Springfield launched the Springfield 2051 initiative for its 250th anniversary, asking residents for input through an online survey (community input encouraged) and think tank sessions. The first session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center, and a second session is set for Sept. 26 (planning details to follow). HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Bringing Awareness to Students will sponsor its second Hope Walk at Wittenberg University on Sept. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. The free event will have a quarter-mile course — including a hug station, educational stops, art experiences, and live music — for students and community members to learn about mental health resources.
