CULTURE NEWS

  • Gloria Theatre will host Shades of Bublé on Friday with vocalists Sean Doherty, John McLaughlin, and Michael Wessells performing classics like 'Feeling Good' and 'Moondance'—a tribute to Michael Bublé’s style. This event is the 23rd performance in the Stars on Stage series and will bring a lively celebration of music to the community.  Springfield News-Sun

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Experts urge residents in Hamilton and Southwest Ohio to kill the invasive spotted lanternfly on sight to protect trees and grapevines—these pests can destroy plants and cost tens of millions in damage. The Department of Agriculture instructed residents to scrape off egg masses and dip them in soapy water or alcohol to stop the spread.  WHIO

  • The Clark County Land Reutilization Corporation will unveil four newly built single-family homes on E. Liberty St. on September 25 for low-income families under the Affordable Homes Program—each home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, off-street parking, and a front porch, with up to 20% down payment assistance available for qualifying buyers.  WHIO
  • The Springfield Air National Guard Base will welcome U.S. Space Force members during a ribbon-cutting on Friday to celebrate the opening of the new Space Intelligence Production Cell. The cell will join guardians from the 76th ISRS with analysts from the 4th IAS—sharing vital intelligence for military space operations.  Springfield News-Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • An internet outage on Tuesday morning at Kettering Health forced seven locations to divert stroke patients and made the online patient portal (MyChart) unavailable due to an internal network problem that was fixed after about seven hours. Appointments resumed shortly after and patients were advised to call their doctor for further help.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Today, the FDA announced that AquaStar USA Corp has recalled 85,184 bags of shrimp because they may contain radioactive Cesium-137, affecting products sold at Kroger and other stores in Ohio and several other states—consumers should return or discard the shrimp for a refund.  WHIO
  • Healthcare jobs in the region grew as nonfarm sectors registered a net gain of 22,000 jobs with Premier Health, Dayton Children’s and Kettering Health posting over 500 openings to fill critical roles—wage data shows these positions pay a median of $83,090.  Springfield News-Sun
