COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Kore 4 at 608, a renovated commercial kitchen and event space, will host an open house on Sept. 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 608 W. Southern Ave—its owners repurposed the long-vacant building from the Clark County Land Bank in 2023 to offer a new venue for local celebrations and catering events.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Impact City Church will open soon at 1100 Sunset Ave. in Springfield as Bishop Lateef Hafeez will lead an opening ceremony with a ribbon cutting on Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. and the first worship service on Oct. 12 (the church is designed to welcome all residents).  Springfield News-Sun
  • Hammy (70 lbs) is a 2-year-old Plott Hound and Mountain Cur mix that loves walks, fetch and cuddles. Clark County Dog Shelter names him Pet of the Week with a $22 adoption fee and is located at (5201 Urbana Road) in Springfield.  Springfield News-Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Clark County library team won the adult spelling bee for the second year at Altrusa's 26th annual Literacy Sting where eleven teams competed by spelling words like impugn and incandescence — nearly $10,000 was raised for local literacy programs.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Springfield City School District residents will vote on a five-year, 1.5-mill property tax levy on the November ballot that costs $53 per $100,000 of property value. School officials say the levy is a backup plan in a legal fight with the Clark County auditor—if the court rules against the district, it will help pay for a $1.7 million gap each year.  Springfield News-Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • One Clark County Bureau of Motor Vehicles location is closed for remodeling and will remain closed for a few weeks—other locations in the county remain open.  Springfield News-Sun

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Younger renters at Pleasantwood Apartments and Townhomes said they love living there but worry a cease and desist letter sent to the property owners may lead to forced evictions—leaving them at risk of losing their homes.  WHIO

  • Pink Powder Puff 'Boo Away Cancer'

    The NE FFA will be holding our 13 Annual Pink Powder Puff event on Saturday, October 25th at 2:30 PM at Conover field to benefit the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark/Champaign Counties. Over the last 12 years, we have raised over $143,000 for the endowment. Along with the football games, we will have chicken and noodles in the concessions plus raffle and silent auction items, admission is just $5 per person.
