- ➤ Food Fusion Restaurant in Springfield is now open to offer creative dishes like steaks, pasta, seafood, sushi and handcrafted drinks along with pool tables, darts and a dancing robot named OVE. The restaurant is open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 10:30 p.m., and Sunday until 9 p.m., and it will host its first event—DJ Haunted Houseman’s Halloween Ball on Nov. 1 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Springfield News-Sun

- ➤ Springfield Symphony Orchestra will begin its ‘Beyond the Score’ season on Oct. 4 at the Clark State Performing Arts Center—where a themed concert will combine music and storytelling in a program featuring classics and modern twists. Conductor Peter Stafford Wilson said the season will offer diverse concerts from Mozart to Bugs Bunny—bringing guest artists and special visuals to the stage. Springfield News-Sun
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Southeastern Local Schools scored the highest four-year graduation and college-career readiness rates in Clark County on the 2024-25 state report card, earning 4 stars overall and showing gains in early literacy and graduation rates—though gap-closing scores declined. Superintendent David Shea credited the district’s focused efforts for the improvements. Springfield News-Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers introduced a bill that will credit about $1.7B to property taxpayers over three years by limiting tax increases for school and vocational districts using property value spikes from 2022 — they plan to vote on it next week so the credit will appear on second-half bills next year if passed. - ➤ A new law for drivers under 21 goes into effect today in Ohio — officials say it targets inexperience that leads to fatal crashes. WHIO
- ➤ Governor Mike DeWine approved a new law that requires drivers under 21 to take a full driver education course and complete 50 hours of supervised practice—this change comes as the state launches a new driver safety app to help lower young driver fatality rates. The law is part of Ohio’s two-year budget aimed at improving road safety. WHIO

- ➤ Wise Wife cinnamon sold from Feb. 15 to June 28 in Ohio and other states is recalled by the FDA for high lead levels+ customers are urged to return the jar to where they bought it. WHIO

Pink Powder Puff 'Boo Away Cancer'
The NE FFA will be holding our 13 Annual Pink Powder Puff event on Saturday, October 25th at 2:30 PM at Conover field to benefit the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark/Champaign Counties. Over the last 12 years, we have raised over $143,000 for the endowment. Along with the football games, we will have chicken and noodles in the concessions plus raffle and silent auction items, admission is just $5 per person.
