Clark State College celebrates National Workforce Development Month by preparing community members for in-demand careers through courses and partnerships—its upcoming training includes OSHA 10 Training on Oct.8-9, PLC Training on Oct.21-23, and a 9-1-1 Communications Dispatch Academy starting Oct.27—and it will help strengthen the region's workforce.

Clark-Shawnee Local Schools earned the top overall rating in Clark County on the 2024-25 state report card, improving in 14 of 17 metrics including gap closing, early literacy, and college-career readiness.

Invenergy is taking the next step to build a 1600-acre solar farm on Clark County farmland after a public meeting where residents raised concerns about grading and topsoil preservation — the company will submit a grading plan to the Ohio Power Siting Board with hearings planned for next summer or fall. Some local residents remain wary and feel the company has not answered detailed questions about the project.

Ohio will raise its minimum wage on Jan.

1 for workers who do not receive tips to $11 per hour and for workers who receive tips to $5.50— a 2.8 percent increase from the current rates of $10.70 and $5.35. The new rule will apply to businesses with annual gross receipts over $405,000 while smaller companies and young workers will continue to earn the federal minimum of $7.25.
