- ➤ The Dock Food and Spirits in Enon will close permanently next month on Oct. 31 after serving the community for 31 years. The seafood restaurant—known for its boathouse shape and sea-themed decor—will accept call-ahead seating as it bids farewell to loyal customers. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ A local seafood restaurant announced that it will close soon—customers are advised to visit another spot for meals. WHIO
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wittenberg University will welcome its 16th president, Dr. Christian M.M. Brady, at Weaver Chapel on Friday, October 17—he served as dean at the University of Kentucky before taking charge. Community members and university delegates will also join related events, including a faculty research symposium and a tailgate before the NCAC game. WHIO
- ➤ Clark-Shawnee district will ask voters in November to approve a 1% earned income tax levy to pay for operating costs as it faces rising deficits and increased special education spending. If it fails, the district will cut support staff hours and raise fees—steps it says are needed to stabilize its budget. Springfield News-Sun
- ➤ Clark State College offers free GED prep courses at its Beavercreek, Bellefontaine and Springfield campuses for adults without a high school diploma—classes meet two days per week for three hours, and financial help is available for the small test fee. Clark State College

- ➤ NFL star and local legend Nick Mangold announced on Tuesday that he is on dialysis and will need a kidney transplant—he is asking type O blood donors to help since his family cannot donate and he was first diagnosed with a genetic defect in 2006. WHIO

Pink Powder Puff 'Boo Away Cancer'
The NE FFA will be holding our 13 Annual Pink Powder Puff event on Saturday, October 25th at 2:30 PM at Conover field to benefit the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark/Champaign Counties. Over the last 12 years, we have raised over $143,000 for the endowment. Along with the football games, we will have chicken and noodles in the concessions plus raffle and silent auction items, admission is just $5 per person.
