- ➤ Marianne Nave, chair of Springfield’s Community Beautification Committee, was honored for 60 years of service in beautifying the city—she will step down as chair next year but remains on the committee. Springfield News-Sun
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Springfield’s Peanut Shoppe — a nearly 100-year-old business since 1937 — was voted one of the city’s best by its loyal customers. Owner Matt Luther, who took over in 2018, said the honor reflects strong community ties and cherished memories that keep the shop thriving. Springfield News-Sun
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Six candidates are running for three seats on the Greenon Local School Board including incumbents Keith Culp, Stacey Hundley and Joe Mamer alongside Diana S. McCubbin, Timothy Munch and Noah Clark Staggs. They plan to focus on boosting student achievement, ensuring fiscal responsibility and maintaining safe learning environments—each pledging transparency and accountability on the board. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A planned Wawa gas station in downtown Springfield was canceled after the developer withdrew from the project — the city still owns the 1.2 acre property and plans to find a new project that meets its economic development goals. Springfield News-Sun

2-6 p.m. — Kettering Fields — Free admission — Celebrate autumn with family-friendly activities, a pumpkin patch, and a costume contest.

Pink Powder Puff 'Boo Away Cancer'
The NE FFA will be holding our 13 Annual Pink Powder Puff event on Saturday, October 25th at 2:30 PM at Conover field to benefit the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark/Champaign Counties. Over the last 12 years, we have raised over $143,000 for the endowment. Along with the football games, we will have chicken and noodles in the concessions plus raffle and silent auction items, admission is just $5 per person.

11 AM – 3 PM — Wittenberg University — Free entry — Support a non-profit working to raise awareness about POTS and its impact on lives.

National Philanthropy Day 2025
12-1:30 p.m. — Festival Green Clubhouse — Lunch provided — Celebrate local philanthropy and support community impact with an online silent auction.

7:30-10 p.m. — Clark State Performing Arts Center — Ticket prices vary — Celebrate Bugs Bunny’s 85th birthday with a live symphony performance of classic Looney Tunes.
