COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Springfield 2051 is hosting Community Visioning Sessions to gather ideas about Springfield's future as the city nears its 250th anniversary. Sessions begin today at Crabill Discovery Hall (Heritage Center, South Fountain Ave) and continue on Oct. 22, Oct. 23, and Oct. 24 at different local venues for various community groups.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Springfield High School students packed over 42K meals in a few hours to help fight malnutrition for children in Lesotho, South Africa, exceeding their goal of 30,000 meals. Their record-breaking effort+ the highest achieved outside Wittenberg University+ shows a strong local commitment to making a global impact.  Springfield News-Sun

  • Several brides say that local photographer Patty Ann Photography missed multiple deadlines after promising to deliver their wedding photos promptly. Thirty-four couples report not receiving full photo sets—local reporters are following up on the issue.  WHIO

  • After school Monday, the district closed after superintendent Jackson received information about a possible threat — officials have not provided further details.  WHIO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clark State College is offering free GED prep courses for adults at its Beavercreek, Bellefontaine and Springfield campuses to help them build skills for the GED exam. Classes meet two days per week for three hours each, but students must pay a $144 test fee — financial help may cover $80 if needed.  Springfield News-Sun

  • Pink Powder Puff 'Boo Away Cancer'

    The NE FFA will be holding our 13 Annual Pink Powder Puff event on Saturday, October 25th at 2:30 PM at Conover field to benefit the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark/Champaign Counties. Over the last 12 years, we have raised over $143,000 for the endowment. Along with the football games, we will have chicken and noodles in the concessions plus raffle and silent auction items, admission is just $5 per person.
