EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tuesday's FutureFWD Summit in Springfield brought education and industry leaders together—hosted by YouScience and local partners—to share ideas for linking student learning with future work opportunities. Panel discussions and keynote speeches explained how aptitude tests help students know their strengths for career success.  Springfield News-Sun

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local stargazers can view the Orionid meteor shower at its peak from Oct. 21 to 23 when Earth passes through debris from Halley’s comet (experts say at least 20 meteors per hour may be seen). Residents are advised to find an open area and watch from 1 a.m. until dawn.  WHIO

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Ohio High School Athletic Association will hold an emergency vote to decide whether to change its name, image, and likeness rules after the family of Wayne High School football player Jamier Brown filed a lawsuit last week. The new bylaw proposal will be released on Thursday—voters will then choose if high schools set the new policy or let a judge decide.  WHIO

  • Pink Powder Puff 'Boo Away Cancer'

    The NE FFA will be holding our 13 Annual Pink Powder Puff event on Saturday, October 25th at 2:30 PM at Conover field to benefit the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark/Champaign Counties. Over the last 12 years, we have raised over $143,000 for the endowment. Along with the football games, we will have chicken and noodles in the concessions plus raffle and silent auction items, admission is just $5 per person.
