- ➤ The YMCA of Greater Dayton is offering free memberships for furloughed federal workers & contractors starting November 4 at its branches including Springfield YMCA, where workers must show valid proof such as a furlough notice or recent pay stub. Once verified, workers & their families will receive free memberships through November 30. WHIO

- ➤ A local restaurant is offering free kids meals during the government shutdown. Customers can also 'plate it forward'—by paying for a meal for someone who cannot come in. WHIO
- ➤ Rumpke Waste & Recycling received $55M in bond financing from the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority for an air quality project that will support 220 jobs and expand capacity in three counties (Clark, Clermont, and Hamilton). The financing will fund two new solid waste transfer stations and facility upgrades to boost efficiency and cut truck miles in the region. WYSO

- ➤ Ohio is part of a listeria outbreak linked to ready-to-eat pasta salads and meals from Nate’s Fine Foods that has sickened more than a dozen people and led to two deaths — the FDA issued a recall alert advising consumers to discard any contaminated products. WHIO
